Preparing for early labor without panic
Early labor can feel uncertain. The goal is not to diagnose yourself. The goal is to stay safe, keep notes, and follow the plan you made with your provider.
Keep nearby
- Your provider or hospital phone number.
- Your hospital or birth center route.
- Water, snacks if your provider allows them, and a charged phone.
- Your contraction timing history.
Use timing as context
Contraction timing can help your care team understand what is happening. It should not be the only reason you wait or go in.
